ShopConsciously

Mpho Hansjee is the Founder and CEO of ShopConsciously, a purpose-driven retail company in California connecting consumers, retailers, and corporate buyers with handmade and upcycled products created by women artisans across Africa. She first founded the nonprofit Women Enabled Enterprises (WEE) in 2020 to equip low-income women entrepreneurs across Africa with business education, mentorship, and resources. Recognizing that training alone could not solve one of their greatest barriers, access to customers, Mpho launched ShopConsciously in 2021 as the market-access engine. Since then, ShopConsciously has expanded from e-commerce into physical retail, including a location at San Jose Mineta International Airport, wholesale, and corporate gifting. Mpho’s work sits at the intersection of retail, sustainability, and women’s economic empowerment, demonstrating that business growth and measurable social impact can be built into the same model.
